(AP) – An Ohio power company is urging customers to conserve electricity Tuesday afternoon or risk further outages.

American Electric Power-Ohio is still working to restore power to about 287,000 residents, the majority in central Ohio.

The company said unless usage drops Tuesday afternoon it will be forced to take circuits offline, which would cause additional outages.

AEP-Ohio asked for energy reductions until 7 p.m.

Including customers of Duke Energy and Dayton Power & Light, more than 300,000 customers remain without power in central and southwest Ohio as utility crews work to restore service interrupted by two rounds of weekend thunderstorms.
