Kathy Malesick Joins WOUB Staff
< < Back toKathy Malesick, a veteran media-sales specialist, is joining the staff of WOUB Public Media to help develop and implement an enhanced advertising and underwriting financial strategy.
This is necessary to support our regional public media efforts and to buttress against possible federal budget cuts to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) and National Public Radio (NPR).
Strengthening WOUB’s financial strategic plan is another step towards WOUB’s goal to become more financially self-sufficient.
Malesick brings more than 30 years of sales and management in radio, cable and digital/online advertising to WOUB.
For the past three years, Malesick was a sales consultant for Time Warner Cable Media for the Columbus-SE region. In 2010, she received the “Salesperson of the Year” award. She also has won numerous other sales awards.
Prior to being with Time Warner, Malesick led the sales team at WATH/WXTQ-Power 105 as General Sales Manager. She was responsible for national sales, events and promotions, and managing a sales staff during her 10-year tenure. She began her advertising career at WMPO-AM/FM in Middleport, Ohio where she served in sales and sales management for SE Ohio and West Virginia.
Malesick is an alumna of the E. W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University with a specialty in advertising management. The National Association of Broadcasters and Radio Ink Magazine have recognized her for her work in media sales and promotion.
“We are delighted to add Kathy to our already stellar Development staff,” Tom Hodson, director and general manager of WOUB Public Media, said. “Kathy will generate new revenue streams which will not only benefit WOUB but will allow us to better serve our audiences throughout our region.”
Currently, WOUB Public Media provides television, radio, and digital news, information, and entertainment services to 55 counties in Central and Southeastern Ohio, West Virginia, and Eastern Kentucky.
