No matter what they try, the Wellston Rockets just can't figure out the Jackson Ironmen.

For the 21st time in 22 years, the Ironmen took down the Rockets in the annual Battle for Jackson County, winning at C.H. Jones Field, 34-13 on Saturday.

This year, it would be Ironmen quarterback Derek Rafferty who terrorized the Rockets defense, scoring four touchdowns, including a pair of passes to Alec Osborne and Gabe Griffiths. He added two more scores on the ground in the contest. Jackson scored the first 34 points of the game and kept Wellston off of the board until there were three minutes remaining in the game.

The lone highlight for the Rockets came on the final play of the game when Forrest Hale ran the ball 64 yards for a touchdown.

The loss for the Rockets capps off what was a rough weekend for the TVC-Ohio, as the only team in the conference to win was the Alexander Spartans, who won by just one point over the Federal Hocking Lancers. As for Jackson, the convincing win was their 20th consecutive regular season victory.

Kyle Bratke brings you the highlights from the contest.
