The Granville Blue Aces survived a fourth quarter comeback at Jackson Saturday night at Alumni Stadium to secure a 28-14 victory.

With the game tied at 14, Granville senior quarterback David Fraley found receiver Brock Hill on third down on a comeback route to the right side of the field. Hill evaded three defenders on the way to a 77-yard touchdown to put the Blue Aces up 21-14. Fraley would add to the lead with a 26-yard touchdown pass on fourth-and-eight with 2:31 remaining to put the game out of reach.

Jackson was trailing 14-0 at the start of the fourth quarter before a 12-yard touchdown run by Morgan Landrum cut the lead to seven with just over six minutes remaining.

The Ironmen defense then forced a rare three-and-out, and Landrum broke a 40-yard run on the ensuing drive to set up a two-yard touchdown run by quarterback Derek Rafferty to tie the game. But Fraley’s two late touchdowns put the game out of reach.

Fraley ended the contest 10-for-17 with 234 yards and three touchdowns to three different receivers. Rafferty struggled throwing the ball, completing just two of his 11 passes for one yard. Landrum had a game-high 156 rushing yards along with a touchdown and a lost fumble on the night.

Jackson came into the game riding a 21-game regular season win streak. The loss Saturday night was the Ironmen’s first since August 28, 2010 at Wellston. With the win, Granville extends its own regular season win streak to 12 games.

Jackson (2-1) next hosts Athens (2-1) on September 14 in a rematch of last season’s first round playoff game. The Ironmen won that matchup 27-7.
