Ohio football received its latest oral commitment earlier today from Mason safety Corey Quallen, according to Steven Matthews of the Dayton Daily News. Quallen chose Ohio over offers from Akron, Bowling Green, Cincinnati and Miami (OH) among others.

Quallen visited Athens for the Thursday night game against Eastern Michigan. A hard hitter with a good nose for the ball, he is the 16th commit from the Class of 2013 and second safety, joining Leon Alexander of Martin Luther King High School in Detroit.

At 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds, Quallen has a good upside as both a safety and possibly an outside linebacker.

His high school coach, Brian Castner, confirmed the commitment on Twitter earlier today. Quallen will reunite with a pair of former Mason Comets upon his arrival in Athens in redshirt junior defensive lineman Kendrick Davis and freshman quarterback JD Sprague.
