Southeast Ohio Women In Networking Make Final Donation
< < Back toThe Women's Fund of the Athens Foundation is already putting to use a recently received $8,000 donation.
The donation came this fall from the Southeast Ohio Women in Networking group.
Executive director of the Athens Foundation Susan Urano says the money will be used in the community.
"The $8,000 will become part of the endowment so it will increase the amount of money in the endowment which will increase the amount grant money that we can make available to the community," says Urano.
The Women's Fund promotes philanthropy among women and supports programs and projects in Athens County that empower low income women to achieve their full potential.
In the past the fund has been donated to My Sister's Place, Glouster Girl Power and Big Brother Big Sisters, but Urano says the fund will be used somewhere new this year.
"The Women's Fund grant this year will go to the Birth Circle for an education program with area teens and their families," says Urano.
The Southeast Ohio Women in Networking group disbanded in August.
Urano says their name will live on through their donation in the endowment.
