The Ohio Women’s Swimming & Diving team defeated Denison University Saturday afternoon 193-97 at the Trumbull Aquatic Center. It was the women’s first time in the pool in over a month, but it was hard to tell.

The 200-yard medley relay team consisting of Addy Ferguson, Ana Bocharnikova, Haley Clark and Lauren Funk started the day off for the Bobcats with a win in the event, finishing with a time of 1:47.06 while taking first place.

Laurin Williams followed up that effort with a first place finish of her own, claiming the top spot in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Her time of 17:13.78 was more than 25 seconds faster than the second place finisher.

Ohio finished in first place in every single event, team and individual, except for the 400-yard IM and 400-yard freestyle relay. The Bobcats had quite and impressive performance considering they had not been in the pool since their second place finish at the Zippy Invitational which ended on Dec. 2, 2012. The win Saturday was Ohio’s first dual-meet victory of the season.

Ohio’s divers wrapped up the meet by sweeping the top 3 spots on the 3-meter board. Haleigh Bartlett took first place with her personal-best score of 327.83, Morgan Srail took second with a score of 286.95 and Kristin Capcik took third with 277.35 points.

Ohio will compete in 10 days against rival Marshall on the road. The Bobcats will even their dual-meet record at 2-2 with a win in Huntington.
