Smith has been shooting portraits of celebrities, athletes and executives for numerous magazines and advertisers for over 30 years and currently serves as the president of Editorial Photographers.
Hodson and Smith discuss some of Smith’s photo shoots with famous celebrities and politicians (Jose Canseco, Alan Greenspan, DMX, Richard Branson), how to draw out the emotion of a photo-shoot and the power of the still image.
Smith’s newest book, Secrets of Great Portrait Photography: Photographs of the Famous and Infamous, hit shelves in October of 2012 and is currently out in paperback.
Smith was in Athens to speak at the annual Communication Week lecture series, presented by the Scripps College of Communication at Ohio University.
