The Ohio Bobcats men’s golf team started off its 2013 season with an 11th place finish at the 44th Marshall Invitational with a total team score of 886 (34 over par)

The team turned in its best round on day three, shooting an eight-over-par 292, led by freshman Peyton White’s even-par 70 and senior Brad Lucas’ one-over 72.

Senior Phil Gieseker struggled on day two with his second 76 (+5) of the tournament, but did turn in a good second round on Monday, shooting a one-over 72, which was the highest on the team for round two.

The Invitational marked the debuts of freshmen Peyton White and Ty Herriott, and both showed their potential in their first collegiate tournament.

Herriott started off with a bang, finishing round one with an even 71, however, he struggled in the last two rounds, finishing at 13 over par. White ended up with the lowest team-score of 219 (+6), including his even-par 71 in the third round.

Junior Andrew Mlynarski turned in an excellent tournament, as he posted his first career top-20 finish, placing in 17th after completing the Invitational at two over par. He shot a 74 (+3) in round one, a 70 (-1) in round two and an even 71 in the third round.

However, Mlynarski participated as an individual in the tournament, meaning his scores did not count toward the team scores; they only counted for individual accolades.

The Bobcats’ next tournament is the Wolf Run Intercollegiate, which will be played at the Wolf Run Country Club in Zionsville, Ind., on Saturday, Sept. 21.
