Head coach Tracy Blasius’ homecoming to John Carroll was spoiled when her former squad handled the Pioneers (2-10, 0-3) easily 7-0.

The Blue Streaks found the net five times within the first 22 minutes of play. Kristen Profeta, Nicki Bohrer, Genny Goergan each found the back of the net once in the first half, while Kaylin Akerly chalked up two scores.

Akerly also registered assists on the goals from Goergan and Bohrer.

John Carroll controlled all activity in the first half, outshooting Marietta 11-6 and winning the corner kick battle 4-0.

The second half yielded more of the same from the Blue Streaks when two more balls made their way past Marietta goalkeeper Kaitlyn Pearse within the first four minutes. Akerly notched her third assist on the day when she set up Bohrer for goal number two on the match.

Goergan’s second goal of the match, courtesy of an accurate pass from Danielle Sharbaugh, effectively put an end to Pearse’s day after letting up seven goals. Freshman Sam Kelley assumed goalkeeping duties in the 58th minute.

Though the scoring would stop, the Blue Streaks went on to outshoot Marietta 9-3 in the second half to cap a dominating performance.

The chance for Ohio Athletic Conference win No. 1 will have to wait until Wednesday at 4 p.m. when the Pioneers welcome Muskingum University to town.
