The Rio Grande RedStorm (10-13, 4-9) took the season series from the Bluefield Rams with a victory in straight sets with scores of 25-15, 25-17 and 27-25.

The first game saw the Rams and RedStorm start in a tightly-contested battle with the score tied at 5. However, Rio Grande went on to dominate the rest of the set. The RedStorm gave up just 10 points the rest of the game. They ended the set on a 5-2 run to take the first frame.

The second game was all Rio Grande, as it never trailed. The RedStorm led by as many nine points. The Rams went on a five-point run and seemed to be making a comeback, but the RedStorm immediately answered with a five-point run to end the set.

Bluefield came out firing in the third. They took a 9-4 lead on the RedStorm. Rio Grande, however, chipped away at the lead to tie the game at 13-13. The two traded runs until Rio Grande had match point with the score at 24-22, but the RedStorm failed to capitalize on either opportunity. They rallied to take the set and match in extra points.

Betsy Schramm led the RedStorm offense with 13 kills. Kayla Briley added a game-high 32 assists and a team-high 17 digs.

Rio Grande will look to continue its winning streak when the RedStorm take on No. 11 Lindsey Wilson on Saturday at 11 a.m.
