RedStorm Shoot For 4-0 Against OU-Lancaster
< < Back toThe ladies from Rio Grande are looking to continue their win streak this Friday when they take the court against Ohio University-Lancaster. With their explosive 3-0 record so far, the stakes are high to keep the energy up to par with the first three games.
The RedStorm have kept impressive scores to start their season, scoring no less than 96 points in their first three games. Rio Grande has also been leading the nation in scoring offense and assists per game, with 112 points and 23 assists per game.
Sophomore forward Sarah Bonar and junior guard Brianna Thomas are once again some of the leading members from the RedStorm to watch out for. Bonar is currently second in the nation in scoring with 26.3 points per game and is also leading her own team with 11 boards a contest. Thomas has been setting the pace for Rio Grande, with an average of around seven assists and 19 points per game.
OU-Lancaster has not had as exciting a season as the RedStorm so far, coming into Friday’s play with a 1-3 record. Its only win was in the Ohio Christian Tournament, where it only scored 72 points, compared to Rio’s minimum of 96 points scored per game. OU-Lancaster’s Pickerington North native Paige Stought is the one to keep an eye out for during this game, averaging almost 26 points per game and hitting a high of 33 points in its previous game.
This game is during the first day of games in the 31st Annual Bevo Francis Invitational Tournament, which is held at the Newt Oliver Arena. The men’s and women’s teams will host six other schools over two days of play for Homecoming and Hall of Fame weekend. The Rio Grande women will tip off against OU-Lancaster at 6 p.m.
