For two days the Washington County Sheriff's Department investigated a reported stabbing in Little Hocking that sent a woman to the hospital and forced a nearby elementary school into lock-down.

It turns out the woman likely stabbed herself and made up the attack.

WTAP Television in Parkersburg reports that Tina Whealdon, 46, confessed to the stabbing.

Quoting Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks, the report says Whealdon has medical issues and deputies are working with doctors.

The initial report was made to the Washington County Sheriff's Department Tuesday shortly before 2:00 PM when Whealdon said a man knocked on her door and asked for money.

Whealdon said when she refused the man forced his way into her Federal Street house, stabbed her, dropped the knife and fled.

Little Hocking Elementary School was put on lock-down as a result of the report.

As the investigation unfolded Mincks told the station Whealdon admitted stabbing herself – a wound that required three hours in surgery.

Whealdon reportedly changed her story Wednesday night.

She's in stable condition at Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg.
