Rio Women’s Soccer Nabs Another Recruit
< < Back toCoach Callum Morris and the Rio Grande RedStorm welcome new signee Shannon Curley to the fold as a midfielder for the 2014 season.
The Clay High School senior played midfielder and scored eight goals and totaled 14 assists on her way to All-District and All-Conference in the Southern Ohio Conference.
Courtesy of Rio Grande athletics, Morris said: “She will definitely work hard and try and compete for a spot in the starting lineup. She plays very aggressive on the field and does well to get through the tackles on the field. She has something that I think we lacked last season and that’s physicality and aggressiveness.”
Rio will field a young team come 2014, with the only departing senior being Mary Beth Schramm. Morris has brought in more and more young, talented recruits within the last several years for a growing program.
Curley is the fifth athlete signed by the RedStorm since the end of the 2013 soccer season.
