Gebele, McClary Sweep MAC Player Of The Week Honors
< < Back toThe Ohio Bobcats softball team continued their hot start to the season this week, as they swept MAC Players of the Week for the second week in a row.
Adrienne Gebele won MAC East Player of the Week for the first time in her career for her huge performance at the Frost Classic last weekend in Chattanooga. Though the Bobcats suffered their first lost of the season in the classic, Gebele was the offensive leader for the ‘Cats, as she led the team with a .556 batting average and a .778 slugging percentage during the weekend. Through the team’s first 13 games, Gebele is the Bobcats top hitter with a .476 batting average.
Gebele’s teammate Lauren McClary brought home MAC East Co-Pitcher of the week this week. This is the fifth time of her Bobcat career McClary earned this award. McClary went 2-0 during the Frost Classic, striking out 16 batters in 14.2 innings. The Junior from Pasadena, Texas earned her first win of the 2014 campaign against Austin Peay where she went all seven innings and struck out seven.
McClary fanned eight batters in her next game against Middle Tennessee for her second straight complete game. She finished off her weekend at the Frost Classic by getting the last two outs for the Bobcats against Northwestern State to seal the 7-6 victory for Ohio.
The Bobcats will head south to Mississippi this weekend to take on South Alabama, Chattanooga, Texas State Gulfport, Louisiana-Lafayette and Mississippi State in the Mississippi Gulf Coast Softball Classic.
