No Report Of Cops At Recent OSU Band Rituals
< < Back toOhio State officials say there is no recent record of campus police attending an annual ritual where marching band members entered Ohio Stadium in their underwear.
The Midnight Ramps were cited in an investigation into the band's "sexualized culture" that resulted in band director Jonathan Waters' July 24 firing.
Waters has said the university's police and athletic departments witnessed the longstanding event over the years, suggesting the school's tacit approval. The school says there is no record of its police attending the event during his tenure.
A band alumni group says dozens have witnessed police at the events, and the lack of documentation probably indicates it was just "one of those wink-and-nod cool traditions."
University administrators say the late-night marches and other off-color revelations of the probe surprised them.
