Ohio Reservist Killed In Afghanistan
< < Back toRelatives of a U.S. Naval reservist from Ohio say he was among the three troops killed when a suicide car bomber struck in Afghanistan.
Family members of 39-year-old Stephen Byus tell The Columbus Dispatch that he was killed Tuesday in Kabul when a Taliban attacker set off a car bomb next to an international military convoy. Twenty soldiers and civilians were injured.
The military hasn't yet confirmed his death or named the others killed in the attack.
Byus, who lived in the Columbus suburb of Reynoldsburg, grew up in Jackson County in southern Ohio, according to his brother, who said family members were told of his death Tuesday afternoon.
Byus was on his third tour of combat duty. Survivors include wife Valerie and two children.
