Nelsonville-York Knocks Off Undefeated River Valley 28-7 [VIDEO]
< < Back toThe Nelsonville-York Buckeyes dropped River Valley for the Raiders’ first loss on the season Friday night, as the Buckeyes used two second-half touchdowns to pull away from the Raiders and win by a final of 28-7.
After a quiet start to the first quarter from each team offensively, Buckeyes’ (3-1, 1-0 TVC-Ohio) running back Alex Mount finally broke out and scored a touchdown on a pitch from 14 yards out early in the first quarter to put the Buckeyes up 7-0. On the next offensive drive for Nelsonville-York, Jeremy Warren pulled in a 14-yard reception for a touchdown, running the score to 14-0. Warren grabbed five receptions for 227 yards and three touchdowns for the game.
Determined to pick up their first win as a member of the TVC-Ohio, River Valley (3-1, 0-1 TVC-Ohio) retaliated on the ensuing drive when quarterback Hunter Edwards scrambled for a nine-yard touchdown before the half to cut the Buckeyes lead to 14-7. Edwards finished with 36 yards passing before suffering a separated shoulder late in the first half. As a result, the Raiders could not keep their momentum through halftime, as Nelsonville-York held River Valley scoreless in the second half.
River Valley finished with only 72 total yards, while Nelsonville-York racked up 361 total yards.
The Buckeyes will travel to Logan (1-3) next Friday, and River Valley will try again for their first TVC-Ohio win again next Friday at Meigs (2-2, 1-0 TVC-Ohio).
