Parent Sues Over Teacher Strike In Ohio District
< < Back toThe parent of a student in a central Ohio school district where teachers are striking is suing to try to close schools until the strike is over.
The lawsuit asks a judge to compel school officials to shutter the buildings in the Reynoldsburg district, where teachers have been on the picket lines for a week.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that lawyer Tom Drabick said in court documents that the school board and district leaders have not provided a safe and secure educational environment since teachers went out on strike.
Drabick cited a fight at the high school, students running through the halls and lack of adult supervision. He called it "near-riot conditions."
A district spokeswoman had no immediate comment on the lawsuit.
