Forests in some higher elevations of the state are seeing the transition to reds, oranges and yellows.

The state Division of Forestry released its first fall foliage report Thursday.

Forester John Anderson says trees are at least at 40 percent peak in Canaan Valley, 50 percent in Spruce Knob and 60 percent in Dolly Sods.

Weekly foliage reports will be posted through the end of October at the West Virginia Division of Forestry site.
