An Ohio University student group formed in the aftermath of a public sex incident that went viral on the internet marched through the streets of Athens for a second year to fight against “rape culture.”

The group, F*** Rape Culture (FRC), aims at creating a safe environment free of sexual violence for all students.

“It’s about being vocal and present on campus. It’s about a group of people who really care for each other and care about all the people on this campus, and want to make sure everyone is safe and can live their lives full without fear of violence,” member of F*** Rape Culture Madison Koenig said.

Other OU organizations are also stepping up in support to end sexual violence.  The Student Senate has offered an alliance with FRC.

“If we are trying to fight rape culture and want to prevent sexual assault on this campus, it is extremely necessary that all people on this campus- students, faculty, staff- are all fighting rape culture,” OU Student Senate Vice President Caitlyn McDaniel said.

The FRC formed last year in response to an incident during homecoming weekend in front of the Chase Bank on Court Street where a young man and women were engaging in sexual activity in front of the bank. Onlookers filmed and took pictures of the incident which went viral on the internet. Media outlets from all over the world picked up the story and many debate if it was rape or public indecency.

Police investigated the incident and determined no laws had been broken.
