Week 8 Power Rankings: SEOAL
< < Back to1) Jackson Ironmen (8-0, 3-0) | Last Week’s Ranking: 1
Jackson’s defense has only given up 33 points total in their three SEOAL games this season. The Jackson Ironmen have dominated their conferences foes so far this season, but have also played a tough non-conference schedule. They welcome the Ironton Fighting Tigers to Alumni Stadium who are on a six-game winning streak of their own.
2) Gallia Academy (4-4, 2-0) | Last Week’s Ranking: 3
The Gallia Academy Blue Devils have now won back-to-back SEOAL games following wins over Warren and Portsmouth. But, a bigger test for the Blue Devils comes this week against the Logan Chieftains. Gallia Academy will be battling to stay undefeated in conference in hopes of sneaking away with the SEOAL title after a Week 10 battle against Jackson.
3) Logan Chieftains (3-5, 1-1) | Last Week’s Ranking: 2
Following back-to-back losses the Logan Chieftains will be looking to get back on track against Gallia Academy. The Chieftains offense has been the main struggle the past two weeks as they have only posted 21 points. But, the Blue Devils provide the perfect opportunity for Logan to get back on track with a conference win.
4) Portsmouth (1-7, 0-3) | Last Week’s Ranking: 5
Despite their Week 8 loss to Jackson, Portsmouth showed some signs of offensive brilliance against that tough Ironmen defense, scoring the most points of any Ironmen opponent this season (21). Facing a Warren team that has only averaged 5.5 points per conference game on offense this season, look for Portsmouth to pick up its first conference win of the season.
5) Warren (1-7, 0-2) | Last Week’s Ranking: 4
Since their Week 2 win against Marietta, Warren has yet to eclipse double digits on the scoreboard. In an SEOAL conference where defense is a strong suit, Warren hasn’t kept any opponent under 10 points all season. Traveling out to Portsmouth in week 9, Warren needs to keep mistakes to a minimum if they want to pick up their first conference win this season.
