Morgan, West Muskingum Both Seek MVL Win No. 1
< < Back toConference win No. 1 is on the line when the Morgan Raiders hit the road to take on the West Muskingum Tornadoes.
West Muskingum’s three -year losing streak did come to an end earlier this season against Buckeye Trail, but the Tornadoes have not picked a conference win since 2011. As for Morgan, the season has yet to produce a win of any kind.
Morgan has scored a total of 24 points this season and has given up an average of 47 points per game. This average is worse than last year when Morgan’s sole win came against West Muskingum.
Both teams run “ground and pound offenses,” like the rest of the Muskingum Valley League, but West Muskingum’s offensive line has given the team the chance to air it out, giving quarterback Seth Mirgon time to operate. This is an area in which Morgan has struggled with quarterback Braydon Hoskinson having little-to-no time to create opportunities within the pocket.
However, the key to this week’s matchup lies in the trenches. Getting a good push upfront and controlling gaps will play a role in determining the game’s winner.
