Swiss Firm To Build Gas-fired Power Plant In Eastern Ohio< < Back to
A Swiss company says it’s planning to use natural gas from the Utica shale formation to fuel an $899 million power plant that will be built in eastern Ohio’s Carroll County.
The Akron Beacon Journal reports that Advanced Power AG’s new plant near Carrollton will produce 700 megawatts of electricity, enough to power 750,000 homes. The plant is scheduled to begin operations in late 2017
The paper reports that the project will generate 700 construction jobs and will create 20-30 permanent jobs once the plant goes online. Houston-based Ethos Energy will operate the plant.
Plans for the project were first announced in July 2013.
