Tickets for the annual Bounty on the Bricks fundraiser in Athens sold out within seven hours on Monday morning.

The third annual event will be held Aug. 8. It features a farm-to-table dinner served at tables down the center of Court Street. Funds raised at the dinner will support the Southeast Ohio Regional Food Bank’s pantry purchase program.

Bounty on the Bricks, which is organized by the Athens Foundation, raised around $75,000 for local food pantries last year. Susan Urano, executive director of the Athens Foundation, said she hopes to raise $100,000 this year.

According to Urano, tickets went on sale at 1 a.m. on Monday and were sold out by the time the Athens Foundation office opened at 8:30 a.m. on Monday. Tickets are $75 each and seating is limited to 375 people.

Last year, tickets sold out within four days. Urano said she had a “gut feeling” that tickets would go fast this year since people were aware of how quickly they sold out last year.

A waiting list has been established for people who would like to attend the event but weren’t able to secure tickets. Those interested in having their name placed on the list can contact the Foundation at (740) 594-6061.

Those unable to attend Bounty on the Bricks can participate in Bounty Beyond the Bricks — a new fundraiser that auctions dinners.

According to Urano, people will be able to bid on 10 to 12 different dinner packages. Some of the dinners will be held on local farms with food prepared by area chefs. Other dinners will have the chef coming to the winners’ homes. People will be able to begin bidding on the dinners via computer and smartphones on July 20.

Information about Bounty Beyond the Bricks will be available on the Athens Foundation’s website at a later date.
