One Bobcat will continue his career in baseball. On Wednesday afternoon, the Colorado Rockies selected Senior Pitcher Logan Cozart in the 21st round of the MLB Draft.
“I’m speechless. It’s so surreal, ” said Cozart after his selection.
Cozart is a 2015 Louisville Slugger Third Team All-American as announced by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. He earned MAC Pitcher of the Year recognition and First Team All-MAC Honors. He also earned MAC Championship Most Valuable Player. He is a finalist for the 2015 Gregg Olson Award which honors college baseball’s breakout player of the year.
Cozart credited Coach Rob Smith for his success. “I wouldn’t be here without Coach Smith. He’s the one who helped me get to where I am today.”
Cozart is currently 13th in the country with an ERA of 1.52 and led the Bobcats with 80 strikeouts over 71 innings pitched. He ranks 20th in the country with a single season school record of 13 saves, surpassing the previous record of nine held by Chad Reed since 1992.
Cozart’s expectations are “to continue the success I had here at Ohio.”
