Athens-Hocking Recycling Centers Inc. Chosen For Athens Refuse

The city of Athens has chosen to contract with Athens-Hocking Recycling Centers Inc. for refuse and curbside recycling collection.
The city received two bids for the new three-year contract, which will take effect on July 1. The other bidder was Rumpke Waste & Recycling Services.
Athens-Hocking Recycling Centers has the current contract, which will expire on Tuesday.
There was a large price differential in the bids between the two companies. The bid total from AHRC was $1,002,884, while the Rumpke bid was $1,566,417. Rumpke also opted to not bid on the franchise areas for refuse and recycling collection.
