Ohio redshirt senior safety Nathan Carpenter received the Mid-American Conference’s East Division Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, after forcing two turnovers in Ohio’s 21-10 win over Marshall on Saturday.

Carpenter recovered a fumble for the Bobcats in the third quarter of Saturday’s contest and sealed the victory by intercepting Marshall quarterback Michael Birdsong with less than one minute remaining. Carpenter has recorded a turnover in every game against Marshall over his Bobcat career and has forced two turnovers in each of Ohio’s first two games of this season.

Carpenter and the Bobcats return on Saturday for a Parent’s Weekend matchup with Southeastern Louisiana at 2 p.m. at Peden Stadium.
