Ohio Wrestling Adds Four in Early Signing Period

New season, new team. Four student-athletes will join the Ohio wrestling team next fall.

Coach Joel Greenlee announced that Mario Guillen (Perrysburg, Ohio), Frank Bruno (Brandon, Fla.), Logan Erdman (Union, Ky), and Nick Syarda (Madison, Ohio).

Guillen, weighing in at 125 lbs., was dubbed the 2015 district champion and a two-time league champion at Perrysburg High School. He holds the record for most wins in a single season. Guillen has made three trips to the state meet, finishing fifth as a freshman and third as a sophomore and junior.

Bruno from Brandon High School in Florida, joins the Bobcats at 141 lbs. At Brandon, he has an overall record of 121-3 his junior season. Junior year, he was a state runner-up at 126 lbs. In 2012, he was a Cadet Greco All-American, finishing sixth.

Erdman comes to Ohio from Larry Ryle High School, where he placed first at the 2015 Kentucky State Championship for 126 lbs. as a junior. He was the state runner-up at 120 lbs. his sophomore year. The three-time state qualifier has an overall 149-24 record. Erdman also garnered three regional championships as an eighth-grader, sophomore and junior.

Syarda at 197 lbs. won the 2015 Ohio State Championship while at Madison High School. In his freshman year, he won the NHSCA National Championship at Virginia Beach (2013). He joins the Bobcats with a 100-17 record in his senior season.
