WAVERLY, Ohio (AP) — A former Ohio deputy has been indicted in two separate fatal shootings — one an on-duty killing involving a fleeing driver and the second an off-duty slaying of his neighbor.

A spokesman for the state attorney general’s office says Joel Jenkins was indicted Thursday on murder and other charges.

Attorney general’s spokesman Dan Tierney says the indictment charges Jenkins with murder and reckless homicide for his role in a March 28 high-speed pursuit that ended with a 26-year-old man fatally shot.

Tierney says Jenkins also is charged with involuntary manslaughter, reckless homicide and tampering with evidence in the Dec. 3 fatal shooting of a neighbor inside Jenkins’ home.

The office of a defense attorney listed in court records says he isn’t representing Jenkins. A telephone listing for the ex-deputy couldn’t be found.
