Edwards, Berry, and Davis Lead the Buckeyes Past River Valley
< < Back toHunter Edwards, Christian Berry, and Aron Davis’s double digit scoring against River Valley led the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes to a hard fought win with a final score of 56-48.
River Valley started out early with a tough defensive game and an intense offensive tempo raking in 22 points in the first quarter while the Buckeyes only tallied 6 points in the first quarter. However, as the game progressed, the Buckeyes began to work out their kinks and play a cleaner and much more effective game.
With timely help from point guard Noah Andrews; the trio of Edwards, Berry and Davis started to get hot. Andrews helped spark the rally that enabled the team to obtain a three-point lead after the end of the 3rd quarter. The Buckeyes finished the final quarter strong with Edwards ending up with 18 points, Berry 16, and Davis 16. All together, the three scored 50 of the teams 56 points to seal the victory.
The Nelsonville-York Buckeyes will turn their next thoughts to next Tuesday, Dec. 15th, as they play Vinton County at home. Vinton County, coming off a huge victory against Alexander, will be looking to continue its success against the Buckeyes. Nelsonville-York head Coach Jay Kline knows his team will have to work on all aspects in order to compete with the Vikings.
“We need to play a nearly perfect game if we want to beat Vinton County,” Kline said.
