BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio man whose six tigers and other exotic animals were seized by the state will get to present more evidence as he challenges the move.

A judge in northwestern Ohio’s Wood County says evidentiary hearings will begin on Feb. 3.

Kenny Hetrick is challenging the Ohio Department of Agriculture’s decision denying him a permit to keep the animals at his home just outside Toledo.

The Sentinel-Tribune newspaper in Bowling Green reports that three days have been set aside for the evidentiary hearings.

Ohio took custody of the animals last January from Hetrick’s roadside animal sanctuary after it said he ignored warnings that he needed a permit for the exotic animals.

Inspectors also reported that his cages weren’t secure enough to prevent an escape.
