Ohio Patrol Official Accused Of Stalking Woman After Affair
< < Back toMARIETTA, Ohio (AP) – A State Highway Patrol post commander in southeast Ohio is charged with two felonies stemming from allegations that he had an affair with a subordinate’s wife last year and stalked her after she ended it, including using a patrol vehicle to stop her for speeding.
Washington County’s sheriff says Lt. William Elschlager of the Marietta post is charged with menacing by stalking and an abduction count related to that alleged traffic stop.
The 46-year-old commander hasn’t entered a response to the charges. He was described as cooperative and was being released under electronic monitoring after his initial court appearance Tuesday. A message seeking comment was left for his attorney.
A patrol spokesman says Elschlager will be on paid administrative leave as the agency investigates whether work rules were violated.
