Lady Lancers Use Full-Court Press Against Miller
< < Back toDespite a slow start, Federal Hocking (4-14) managed to execute a strong full-court press that forced Miller (2-13) to turn the ball over 22 times. It allowed the Lady Lancers to narrowly beat the Miller Lady Falcons 45-42 to snag their fourth win of the season.
Along with the physical defense, the Lady Lancers played well on offense as well. Due to starter Audrey Blake not traveling with the team, the offense operated through Tabler. Destiny Tabler led Federal Hocking with 20 points, shooting 3 for 5 from behind the arc.
Tabler proved valuable especially towards the end of the game. The lead changed four times within the final minutes until Tabler and Skylar Hatfield contributed some clutch free throws to give Fed Hock the lead.
Through the first half, the Lady Falcons racked up a number of steals. All five of the Lady Falcons starters recorded at least one steal; Chloe Rine topped Miller with six on the night.
However the consistent passing fell off in the second half as Fed Hock applied even heavier full-court pressure. The Lady Falcons had to settle for behind-the-arc shots and were unable to connect. The team shot 6 for 17 from the three by the end of the night.
Fed Hock hopes to carry the momentum into its game on Jan. 28 against Waterford.
Miller looks to rebound against Berne Union on Jan. 27.
