Vinton County Vikings, Trimble Tomcats and Waterford Wildcats all found their place in the AP State Polls for their respective divisions.

The Vinton County’s 19-point victory over the Meigs Marauders on January 19th wasn’t enough to boost the Vikings stock in the AP OHSAA weekly poll. For the second consecutive week, Vinton County ranks 6th in Division II.

The Vikings earned 95 points in the poll and are once again sandwiched between Defiance (103) and Napoleon (52).

The Maroon & White host TVC-Ohio foe Athens Tuesday night before hosting Miami Trace on Friday. Athens is vying to hand Vinton County its first conference loss of the season.

Despite an upset loss at Wahama last Tuesday, the Trimble Tomcats are still in the Top Ten for the AP State Polls in Division IV.

The Tomcats were previously No. 7, but the loss to Wahama, coupled with their next game being canceled due to weather, meant a two spot drop for Trimble. Trimble’s Hocking foe Waterford appears on the list as well.

The Wildcats, previously tenth on the list, made the jump ahead of Trimble to the No. 8 position. Waterford’s last loss was to Trimble, a 60-57 loss at Trimble.

Trimble (11-2) and Waterford (9-2) will meet again on Saturday at Waterford, but both teams will have two games before the Saturday matchup.
