Jaaron Simmons Named MAC Player of the Week by YP.com
< < Back toYP.com names Jaaron Simmons MAC player of the week. The redshirt sophomore guard made major contributions to help Ohio go 2-0 in the fourth week of conference play.
Simmons averaged 12.5 assists, 10.5 points and five rebounds per game. Simmons tied the school and conferene record with 17 assists and nabbed his fourth double-double of the season with 12 points as Ohio beat Toledo 81-79 last Tuesday.
Simmons matched the school-record 17 assists set by guard DJ Cooper on Jan. 5, 2013. Simmons and Cooper share the conference record for assists in a game with Eddie Schilling of Miami and Todd Dietrich of Western Michigan.
He continued his week with a game-high eight assists and nine points to contribute to the 72-61 Bobcats win over Kent State last Friday.
Simmons is averaging 7.8 assists per game and 14 points a game. The Bobcats will play MAC East division rival Akron on Tuesday, February 2nd at 7 p.m.
