Waterford Drops in AP Polls
< < Back toAfter taking a loss in the past week, the Waterford Lady Wildcats slipped two spots in the Division IV AP Polls. After holding the No. 1 spot since the poll started releasing, the Lady Wildcats now sit at the No. 3 spot in the polls.
The Lady Wildcats still received three votes for first place; The team is only 10 points behind No. 2 Arlington and 24 points behind new No. 1 New Madison Tri-Village.
The Lady Wildcats (18-1) lost their first game of the season to Parkersburg South, one of West Virginia’s top teams. Parkersburg South won 63-58, but Waterford rebounded quickly from the set back. Waterford coach Jerry Close commented that a team can learn more from losing than winning.
Since the loss, Waterford played three games and won all in dominating fashion. The Lady Wildcats most recently snagged a 54-29 win over Eastern, the No. 2 team in the TVC Hocking.
Only three games remain on Waterford’s regular-season schedule, with its season finale including a rematch at Parkersburg South.
