COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio’s criminal justice services agency says local and state governments can apply for up to $30,000 in grants to improve relationships between communities and law enforcement agencies serving them.

The Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services says it’s now accepting applications for the Ohio Community-Police Relations Grant Program.

Karhlton Moore, the agency’s executive director, says the grants are focused on helping law enforcement and communities that want to improve, enhance or create stronger relationships.

Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on March 31.

The grants are available to all units of state and local government, as well as faith-based or nonprofit organizations.

Police departments that apply must be working toward certification through the Ohio Collaborative Community-Police Advisory Board.
