REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio (AP) – An Ohio program that recognizes farms owned by the same family for at least a century is adding another category to honor those where the ownership stretches over 150 years.

The state Department of Agriculture says Ohio’s Historic Family Farms program has nearly 1,300 registered farms around the state, with at least one in each of the 88 counties.

In addition to the century and bicentennial designations for farms, the program is adding a sesquicentennial designation. Department Director David Daniels announced the change Tuesday while meeting with some of the historic farm families from Clinton, Fayette, Highland and Ross counties during an Ohio Agriculture Week event.
