This Saturday, Stuart’s Opera House will host an evening of improv comedy with the legendary Upright Citizens Brigade Touring Company.

The UCB Touring Company brings the best improv comedians of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatres in New York and Los Angeles to audiences all around the country. The UCB Theatre – founded by Amy Poehler, Matt Besser, Ian Roberts, and Matt Walsh – has been home to some of the biggest stars in comedy today. From TV shows like Broad City, Saturday Night Live, Silicon Valley, Veep and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, to films such as Bridesmaids, The Hangover and The Heat, UCB performers are everywhere. Not to mention the writing rooms of Key and Peele, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Inside Amy Schumer and many more.

Stuart’s Arts Education Program will also be hosting a workshop on Sunday, April 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. “Improv 101 with Upright Citizens Brigade Touring Company” will introduce students to the basics of how to perform long-form improv. Students will learn how to use “yes-and,” playing at the top of one’s intelligence, active listening, and support to create comedic improvised scenes.

There are only 16 spots in the improv class, open to anyone ages 13 and up. Space is limited and must be scheduled in advance. If interested, contact Emily Prince at (740) 753-1924 or emily@stuartsoperahouse.org.

General admission tickets for Saturday night’s show are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Student tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Show time is 7 p.m. For tickets and more information, visit stuartsoperahouse.org.
