Indie singer-songwriter Aoife O’Donovan joined the Gladden House as the first set of the 2016 season. O’Donovan draws influence for her music from her summers spent in Ireland, and recently released a second album, In The Magic Hour, which lyrically draws upon themes of memory and mortality. In The Magic Hour is the follow up album to O’Donovan’s 2013 release, Fossils, which received critical acclaim from the likes of The New York Times and Rolling Stone.

For her Gladden House session, O’Donovan charmed the crowd with three tracks from 2016’s In The Magic Hour, kicking things off with the title track, “Magic Hour.” The opening song from the set was followed by the most popular song from In The Magic Hour, entitled “Porch Light.”  O’Donovan closed the set with the song “Hornets.”

The Gladden House Sessions are a collaborative effort between the Nelsonville Music Festival, WOUB Public Media and the Ohio University School of Media Arts & Studies. Check out more Gladden House Sessions here.
