Is there a budding performer in your house? Peoples Bank Theatre would love to have them on its stage.

The nationally-touring Missoula Children’s Theatre will be setting up shop in Marietta for a week-long summer theatre program the week of July 18, culminating in a youth stage production of Pinocchio on July 23.

Auditions for Pinocchio will be Monday, July 18 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Peoples Bank Theatre. Students entering first grade through 12th grade are encouraged to audition. No advance preparation is necessary.

Approximately 50-60 local students will be cast to appear in the show. Students wishing to audition must arrive by the scheduled starting time and stay for the entire two-hour session. The first rehearsal begins approximately 15-30 minutes after the July 18 audition. Due to time constraints of the one-week program, late-comers and anyone missing the initial audition may not be considered in the casting of the show.

Among the roles to be cast are Pinocchio, the Blue Fairy, Jiminy Cricket, the Fox and Cat, Candlewick and Crew, Urchins, School Kids, Puppets and Toys. Assistant Directors will also be cast to aid in rehearsals throughout the week, and to take on essential backstage responsibilities. Participation in the program is free of charge.

Rehearsals are scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.

Although not all cast members will be needed at every session, those auditioning must have a clear schedule for the entire week and if selected, be able to attend all rehearsals required for their role. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed at the conclusion of the audition. Cast members scheduled for the full 4 1⁄2 hours of rehearsal will be asked to bring a sack lunch or snack.

Pinocchio will be presented Saturday, July 23 at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on the stage of the newly renovated Peoples Bank Theatre, with support from Morrison Incorporated. Tickets for the performances are $12 for adults and $8 for children 12 and younger.
