Son of Former Ohio Star Gary Trent Commits to Duke

Gary Trent Jr., son of former Ohio University basketball standout, Gary Trent, has committed to play basketball at Duke University.

Trent Jr. is in his senior year at Prolific Prep, which is a basketball prep school in California. This is his first year attending the prep school. He is originally from Apple Valley, Minnesota and until this year, he played at Apple Valley High School. Trent Jr. averaged 26.4 points per game at Apple Valley. Trent Jr. has also won two gold medals with USA Basketball.

The 6-foot-5-inch shooting guard was the No. 1 player at his position as ranked by ESPN and the No. 8 player in the country for the 2017 recruiting class. Trent Jr. played with another former Duke University basketball standout, Tyus Jones, while he was at Apple Valley.

Trent Jr. has also played with Tyus Jones’s little brother, Tre Jones, while he was at Apple Valley High School. The son of the former Ohio University standout never seriously considered Ohio University.
