After a two-game losing streak, the Meigs Marauders defended home court,  coming out with a 76-44 win against the Wellston Golden Rockets. The victory put Meigs at 3-1 in the conference and 8-6 overall after tonight’s Tri-Valley Conference match-up.

It was not long in the first quarter before the Marauders began to put up points however it was aggressive defense that kept Wellston from scoring as the Golden Rockets had 27 turnovers while only having four assists. The Golden Rockets were able to snatch rebounds left and right recording 12 offensive rebounds and 16 defensive rebounds, but they could not convert with the ball.

Although Wellston did not match up to Meigs in defense, both teams were sure to keep up on shooting and the Marauders put out 31 more shots than the Golden Rockets.

Meigs senior, Christian Mattox, was the leading scorer for the Marauders putting up 24 points followed by freshman Weston Baer who ended with 12 total points with two of those baskets being 3-pointers.

The Marauders will try to avoid another losing skid with a week off before visiting Alexander on Friday.  Wellston will also have its next battle against Alexander on Tuesday.
