Eastern Lady Eagles came out ready to play on both ends of the floor fighting for rebounds and getting shots up which helped them secure a victory over the Wahama Lady White Falcons with a final score of 65-19.

The Lady Eagles got it going early tonight in front of their home crowd assisting on eight of their first nine shots in the first quarter jumping out to a commanding 21-2 lead over Wahama after one quarter. Eastern’s defense engulfed the Wahama starters holding them to no points in the 1st quarter.

The Lady Eagles were led by Laura Pullins with 13 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals as she was able to get things going on the defensive end with steals that led to her getting some easy points.

Maddy Van Marte led the Lady White Falcons with nine points, five rebounds and three steals. However, they were just not able to get any offense going around her.

Eastern Lady Eagles shut down defense against Wahama wasn’t anything special in preparation for this game.

“We practice our defense like we do every day and it’s the same as what we prepare for any other team,” said Lauren Pullins.

Pullins went on to say how her and Alyson Bailey were like “sisters” which is why they are so comfortable with each other on the floor. Bailey led the team with seven assist and most of them came from baskets by Pullins. The Lady Eagles defense forced 26 turnovers.

The Lady Eagles go on the road next Tuesday to take on the 14-2 Waterford Lady Wildcats. Coach Jacob Parker is looking forward to the matchup

“Go in there with a mindset that it’s going to be a great game if you keep it close come down to the final two minutes see what happens,” said Coach Parker.
