The Trimble Tomcats played spoiler on Federal Hocking’s senior night as they dismantled the Lancers by a score of 67-25.

It was the final game of Federal Hocking’s regular season, its last chance to avoid a winless season. It was going to be a hefty bill to pay, facing the team with the second best record in the Tri-Valley Conference, the Trimble Tomcats, and it was a bill they could not pay.

The Lancers were sloppy. In the first quarter they had more turnovers (nine) than they had made shots (seven), and Trimble made them pay, running the fast break off steals, which continued to be a thorn in the side of Federal Hocking all night.

The game didn’t get much better after the first. Trimble built on their lead in every quarter after the first, including when they outscored the Lancers 32-8 in the second half.

Trimble’s defense ran rampant all night long, running a full court press that Federal Hocking had no answer for. The Tomcats also held a huge advantage on the boards pulling down more offensive rebounds than the Lancers had defensive rebounds.

The Tomcats were led by senior Tyler Slack who had 15 points and 7 rebounds and the Lancers were led by Jared Hawk who had 8 points but on 2/17 shooting.

Moving forward Trimble(13-8), finishes its season at home against Southern on Tuesday before heading to the playoffs as the second seed. For the Federal Hocking Lancers, this was their final regular season game as they finish the regular season 0-22. They take on St. Joseph in the first round of the playoffs on Wednesday.
