South Webster and Belpre should open a bakery after Saturday’s matchup. Their specialty? Turnovers.
The Lady Jeeps and the Lady Golden Eagles combined for a whopping 45 turnovers. Belpre turned the ball over 23 times and South Webster was just behind with 22. They combined for 21 alone in the first quarter.
South Webster was the better team coming out with the 44-21 win and advancing in the tournament.
The Lady Jeeps had the size and ability to completely outplay Belpre. The Lady Golden Eagles did not score over 10 points in a quarter and only scored two in the first.
Ellie Jo Johnson completely dominated for South Webster. Johnson scored 21 and more impressively grabbed 17 rebounds. Belpre as a team grabbed 18 rebounds.
The Golden Eagles could not get around get going on offense and only one player scored over five points.
South Webster advances to meet Waterford in the District Final. The two met last season in the tournament where Waterford defeated the Lady Jeeps.
Belpre ends its season with a 16-8 record which is a three-win improvement from last season.
