Ohio Thrashes Oklahoma in Round One of ACHA Tournament< < Back to
Ohio Hockey made their way to Columbus on Friday (March 10) for the first game of the 2017 ACHA Tournament where they defeated Oklahoma University 13-1. The the Ice Haus was painted green and white as the stands were packed full of fans cheering Ohio on to victory.
The Bobcats took the ice ready to chase a title. The first Ohio goal was scored just seconds into the game and within a few minutes, the Cats had a 3-1 lead.
Throughout the next two periods, the ‘Cats went off as if they were only practicing shooting goals. One after the other, Ohio increased their lead over Oklahoma and were up 8-1 by the end of the second period. The offensive explosion only ended because the clock ran out and Ohio won 13-1.
Although Oklahoma could not compare to Ohio’s shooting and scoring, the Sooners started several brawls, leading to penalty box time throughout the game after the Bobcats took the lead.
Ohio’s leading scorer Liam Geither recorded hat trick for the Bobcats.
Ohio Hockey advanced to the quarterfinals on Sunday, March 12 where they will play the winner of Lindenwood and Stonybrook at 2 p.m. at the Ice Haus in downtown Columbus.
