In celebration of the 20th biennial of Quilt National, The Dairy Barn Arts Center will be hosting the first ever Quilt National workshop series in our brand new fiber arts studio.

The first series of workshops ‘Quilts in Time’ will run July 26-29 and feature Quilt National artists Danette Pratt and Andrea Stern, and local quilt and fiber experts Meta Van Nostran and Mary Roediger. Each day of the workshops will host presentations and classes from eco-dying and embellishment to textile conservation and restoration. Workshops will run every day from around 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

“We are very excited to be bringing so many talented artists to the Barn to launch our new Fiber Arts Studio.” said Ann Judy, Fiber Arts Studio Manager. “I can promise that participants will gain a creative surge in their own fiber work, and they will have an exhilarating experience!”

Workshop participants are encouraged to come a day early to experience the Crazy Quilt Crawl, which features contemporary and traditional quilts from local Athenians at over 45 locations in town and throughout Athens County. Participants will also be able to view Quilt National ’17 and Transforming Traditions at the Southeast Ohio History Center- two major quilt exhibitions on the crawl for free.

For detailed descriptions of each workshop or to register, please visit this link. For questions relating to the workshops, please call the Barn at 740-592-4981 or email Ann Judy at starbrick@gmail.com.

A second series of Quilt National workshops will run August 22-26 and will feature Quilt National artist Daren Redman with two days of Shibori Dyeing. Stay tuned to the Quilt National page of our website for more details to follow.
