COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Ohio officials say the percentages of students on public and private four-year campuses who report being trained in sexual assault prevention rose significantly over the past year.

The finding comes in second-year results of a statewide campus climate survey obtained by The Associated Press ahead of its release Wednesday.

The percentage of students at public universities who reported receiving training on sexual misconduct prevention rose from 30 percent in 2016 to 56 percent in 2017. At private colleges, more than 65 percent of students reported taking the training, up from 40 percent in 2016.

Survey results were gathered for the Ohio Department of Higher Education’s Changing Campus Culture initiative. The state has allotted $2 million to help colleges and universities tackle issues of sexual violence on college campuses.
